Helpful info

We went for the AED 575 (around £105 pp) which includes bubbly, cocktails, juices and soft drinks, as well as the all up you can eat buffet.
Having been here a few days now and realising that the cost of food and drink are equivalent to London prices we all felt that this was fantastic value for money.
The food was incredible, the drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was perfect.
Can't beat some quality family time.
Highly recommended!!

Dubai Day One

After a couple of manic weeks which consisted of quitting jobs, sorting through our possessions, last minute visa pick ups and saying our goodbyes we are finally in Dubai!!

Before we left we had a bit of a panic week, much to my fathers disappointment I had to ask if I could store my project car on his drive...luckily for me he said yes.
We would suggest to anyone who is thinking of travelling to be a little more proactive with planning than we were. We thought we were being quite organised when actually we were probably being a little too laid back. We had our vaccinations right up until we left and leaving visas until the last minute meant we had to collect our passports the day before leaving, NOT GREAT, but never mind as we are now in our first destination of Dubai!

We arrived in the very early hours of Wednesday 25th March after an awesome flight with Emirates.
We had our own personal TV with so many films (some that are still in the cinema) and TV series much to our delight The Walking Dead and Family Guy, that well lets just say the six and a half hour flight flew by (sorry for the pun).

Dubai airport is insane, it's so big, it's glittery and extremely clean, think the UK airports could do with a little more glitter.
Tourist visas here are free for 30 days which came in very handy on the budget front.

When we arrived at Suzes parents apartment in the Dubai Marina at silly o'clock we were so awake we ended up chatting then finally drifting off at 7am!

Waking up to the sun bursting through the window and the beautiful site of the marina is awesome, however if you want peace and quiet Dubai isn't the place for you. There is constantly the sound of building work, car horns and the show offs revving their swanky sports cars.
Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini you name it they've got it. On our first day we were very impressed every time we saw one of these incredible cars, however now on our third day, meh it's just another sports car. The novelty has worn off....well for Suze anyway, I still get that little boy excitement when one drives by, as does Suze's Dad.

Suze's Parents have given us this amazing book called 'The Entertainer'. It's full of vouchers for newbies to Dubai, and having quite tight wallets in this clearly big spender city it is really coming in handy. Highly recommended purchase!

So with The Entertainer in our bag and our cameras round our necks (we might have purchased a new toy before leaving, it will be revealed soon) we are ready to explore this exciting yet confusing place.

Did We Get It??

We headed to London this morning bright and early, coffee in hand, along with that horrible anxious feeling in our tummys.

So many questions running around our heads:

What if they say no?

What if they decline our application?

What is they don't give back our passports?

Panic Panic Panic!!

Ridiculous we know, but this visa obtaining thing is all very new to us.

When we arrived we walked down the steps to the Embassy, which we completely missed on Friday, went straight to counter 4 and handed over our receipt with baited breath....

The lady behind the counter rummaged through some files, smiled, handed back our passports and said 'enjoy your trip'.

That was it.

Honestly, that was it.

No panic, no withholding of passports, no questions, just 'enjoy your trip'!

It couldn't have been more stress free.

As we pretty much leaped to the door, we went into the courtyard smiled at each other and obviously high fived. Happy is a huge understatement.

Now having only four weeks to go (can you believe it??) we can finally start to fully relax and start to enjoy the planning experience.

A huge thank you to the Royal Thai Embassy who made the whole 'visa getting' experience so straight forward.

Woop Woop!!
